Annie Lydia Lippai
July 4, 1919 – Aug. 27, 2009
Anna Lydia (nee Weselak) Lippai passed away on Aug. 27, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital at the age of 90.
Anna was born July 4, 1919 in Arborg, Man.
She was the middle child of Joseph and Eleanor (Lackowski) Weselak. She moved to Saskatchewan with her parents as a young child. Her early school years were spent attending Vallar and Redpath Schools. She worked for many years as a hired girl for families and later as a cook at the Hutton Hotel near Rosetown, Sask.
She married Albert Lippai on Oct. 25, 1949 in Esterhazy. Her years on the farm were spent milking cows, raising chickens and looking after a very large garden. She helped supplement
the farm income by selling ice cream, eggs, custom sewing
and decorating many, many wedding and anniversary cakes. She
enjoyed cooking and baking and having relatives and friends over
for meals and coffee.
She was passionate about spending birthdays, anniversaries and
special occasions with family.
Anna was predeceased by parents Joseph and Eleanor Weselak; her husband Albert; her brother Joseph Weselak; brothers-in-law Leonard Boukal; and John, Frank, Joseph and Steve Lippai; sisters-inlaw Annie Lippai, Mary Wren, Rene Brown and Irene Langmo and her grandson Blair Zurburg. Left to mourn her passing and treasure her memories are her children Sandra (Richard) Zurburg, Bernice (Don) Lingelbach and Dennis Lippai. Her grandchildren Dean (Lisa), Jason (Stacey) and Blain Zurburg; Kevin, Brad and Amber Lingelbach; Leah and Heather Lippai. Her greatgrandchildren Ethan, Jenna, Rachel and Chase Zurburg. She is
survived by her sister Mildred Boukal, sisters-in-law Mary Weselak,
Clara (Teunis) Kwak, brother-in-law Mervin Langmo, her aunt Sue
Modjeski and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service was held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at the Peter
Carscadden Funeral Chapel with Trina Nagy and Myron Ecklin presiding.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 29, 2009, at
Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church in Esterhazy with
Father Albert Schmitz officiating. The pall was placed by her children and sister.
The pallbearers were all of Anna’s grandchildren. Ushers were Donald Weselak and Victor Lippai. Altar servers were Leonard Knourek, Joe Lippai, Willard Sikora and Arnold Petracek. Lectors were Leona Dlouhy, Dennis Tocher and Sister Cecile Richards. The organist was Joan Petracek who was accompanied by the senior choir.
Special words of remembrance were shared by Dean Zurburg and Leah and Heather Lippai. Interment was held at the Kaposvar Cemetery with Joe, Victor, Bert and John Lippai ringing the bells at the Kaposvar Historical Site.

Funeral Service Ltd. of Esterhazy. For those wishing to

Historical Society.
