The Initial Email

Every day I check hundreds of emails. Yes, I check each one. The reason being that sometimes a good email gets marked as "spam". (See prior blog posts about my dislike to spam!)

During one such check of email on April 3, 2007 I read an email with great interest.

Here is an excerpt from the email which I think will pretty much explain how we started working with Dr. Kelly Hignett.

Email Excerpt:
I am a researcher in East European history at Keele University, UK, and I am currently writing an article about the history of the Chod, with particular emphasis on their role in protecting the border from cross border smugglers/poachers and bandits from the late middle ages (C14-C17). I am currently researching archival evidence about the history of the Chod (my university holds an archival collection that contains some documentation about the Chod, compiled early in C20), and I am planning to visit the Chodsko region this summer. My first article about border control will be published in a collaborative book in 2008. I also plan on writing a second, more detailed ethnographic study of the Chod peoples for publication.

Our reply including giving Kelly a seat in our Research Group on yahoo and digital access to everything we have.
