March 14, 2009 - Saturday

Today has been the first week of having three wonderful horses gracing our barns.

We have learned alot about each of them:
GLIDER: Hmmm... what to say.. Glider is a Oat HOG! He is a very loving old man who has been abused. We were worried that he would scare easily and not be very friendly to start with, but we learned we could and most likely would be wrong about how loving these animals would be. Glider has an old injury. His shoulder at some time in his life dislocated. He was not cared for and was probably made to still give trail rides through the Mountains. We were told that he does not take to "Cowboys" very well, but can be approached slowly and he is fine. Boy is he ever. Our middle son, who has been a horse fanatic since he bucked around in mommy's tummy, has become best friends with Glider. Glider also loves oats and he is very quick to let us know when he is not getting them fast enough!

HAREM: Harem is a wonderful old horse who has seen some better days but still has many days left. She loves attention but is not very demanding. She does get excited and come straight to the window for petting when our youngest child is around. They have formed a wonderful bond that will last a long time. Harem also loves oats but will let Glider to all the yacking while she patiently waits in the background. Harem will make a wonderful companion horse.

MARIAH: Mariah is a Paint/Belgian cross. She is not overly big and takes on the look of a long haired paint. She is very pretty and knows it. She loves to get attention. Mariah is PREGNANT! She is due to foal at the end of April 2009! We are very excited to have her with us and even more excited to be a part of the process of the birth! Our daughter has a new best friend now as they spend countless time together just hanging out.
